Wedding Officiant
Your Day. Your Choices. Your Ceremony.
Your Ceremony
The wedding is your special day. It should be all about you, your dreams and vision. Some clergy or officiants tell you the type of ceremony they like to provide. With Serenity Ceremonies, your personal preference is my priority.
choose between:
Traditional – Is your inspiration a lovely long dress, classic tuxedo and formal elegance? This ceremony combines traditional and familiar elements with your own personal touches.
Contemporary – Do you prefer a more modern mood? This ceremony offers a fresh, less conventional tone that will suit your day perfectly.
Uniquely You – You want to express your own vision? We will work together to create an exceptional ceremony that expresses your personality.
Wedding Format
Procession
The couple arrive for the ceremony. Often the Groom and I await the bride, who joins us at the chosen time. You may prefer a different approach.
Welcome
I welcome all family and friends attending. (Special greetings to special people as requested)
Reading
I read a passage or poem of your choosing to the family and friends.
(If you prefer, you or a family member of your choice may read. I will provide sample readings if you request.)
Presentation (optional)
If parents are present and you wish, I can call upon them to present the bride and groom.
Vows
You exchange vows, often with me prompting with the question and you responding “I do” or “We will.)
(Many couples choose to write and speak their own vows. I will provide examples if you request.)
Rings
You exchange rings, with suitable words by me or by you, as you choose. (You may prefer another symbol exchange, such as a flower)
Pronouncement of Marriage
I pronounce the marriage to all attending, and you kiss!
Signing of the Register
You and your witnesses sign the Marriage Register. Often a great photo opportunity
Farewell
After the signing, I introduce the happy married couple to their proud family and friends. If there are reception or other arrangements to follow, I announce them at your request. Most couples depart at this time to the well wishes of all.

Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need a Marriage License?
Yes, you can’t get married without one. You typically obtain this from your local City Hall or Municipal Office. You can download the application form from the Government of Ontario. The Licence is for three months from issuance, so don’t get it to far ahead of your wedding date!
What is a Humanist Officiant?
A Humanist Officiant is authorized by the Province of Ontario to provide secular wedding and other ceremonies. We do not include religious elements in our ceremonies.
How do I get started?
It has started, with your visiting this website. It shares information helpful in deciding what kind of ceremony is best for you. For further information including fees, please send me a contact email. I will respond within 24 hours with answers.
